Topic Expert Week 3 CH 9 10, Five Dysfunctions of a Team 1. What are the five dysfunctions of a team, define each dysfunction and give a real-world example: 1) Absence of trust (among team members) - this is where the team members is not open with one another and their unwillingness to be vulnerable. Not open with one another about mistakes and weaknesses makes it impossible to build trust in a team. 2) Fear of conflict ââ¬â with no trust leaves the team incapable to engage in debate of ideas. Leaving the team to never truly engage without holding back. 3) Lack of commitment ââ¬â Team members never buy it to the decisions due to their opinions never truly being heard. 4) Avoidance of accountability ââ¬â with no commitment team member have a hard to calling others out, when their action are not productive. 5) Inattention to results ââ¬â when team memberââ¬â¢s ego comes before the team. Without trust among team members and having fear of conflict due to the ability to engage in unfiltered debate leads to no commitment in the team. Without these first steps team members have no base to hold each other accountable for their actions. Causing team members to put their individual needs first. I believe congress may have this problem. It is apparent they have no trust in one another. They seem to always disagree without resolving the debate.
